2025 AUSTRALIAN DMC DJ Championships

National Finals Return to Sydney for the First Time in 29 years !

The last time Sydney hosted the National Finals of the DMC World Championships was back in 1996, held at the ENTECH trade show inside the iconic Sydney Entertainment Centre. That year, 3 DJs—DJ KC, ASK, and Skizo—claimed the national titles and went on to proudly represent Australia at the World Finals in Rimini, Italy.

2025 marks a historic milestone as the DMC World DJ Championships celebrates its 40th anniversary. Since its inception in London in 1985, DMC has stood as the most prestigious DJ competition in the world – the true Olympics of the DJ industry.

In Australia, DMC was first launched in 1988 by Joe Conneely and Lindsay Smith, sparking a legacy that has shaped the nation’s DJ culture for nearly four decades. Over the years, Australia has produced world-class champions and inspired countless DJs to push the boundaries of creativity and technical skill.

This year’s Australian Championships come with two huge announcements:

  1. Online Eliminations: For 2025, all state and territory eliminations are being held online, giving DJs from every corner of the country the chance to compete without the barrier of travel.
  2. Sydney Finals Return: The Australian National Finals will be held in Sydney for the first time in 29 years, taking place on Sunday, 21st September at Oxford Art Factory.

The Legacy of DMC

From vinyl battles to digital showdowns, DMC has been at the forefront of DJ innovation for four decades. The competition has discovered and showcased legends such as DJ Kentaro, DJ Craze, and DJ Rena, while continuing to inspire the next generation. In Australia, the event has served as a career-launching platform for DJs who have gone on to make their mark internationally.
